Could North America be the next big biogas market?

Global growth for the biogas market is predicted to chug along at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of about 5 %…

And while Europe’s biogas market is firmly established, new and bigger players are possibly getting ready to enter the scene.

Covid-19 has taken the attention away from the global climate crisis…

But a sustainable, renewable energy sector is only possible with a healthy mix of solar, wind, water…

And biomass.

And with biomass, I’m referring to the anaerobic digestion of organic compounds to produce biogas.

The way I see it, and from talking to many experts in the field, North America might be

The “next big thing” in the biogas market.

So if you’re interested in investing into biogas – yet, you lack the specific, profound knowledge to evaluate the sector…

Or you’re already operating a biogas plant in the US, in Canada or in Mexico and you’re looking for ways to improve your day to day operation…

Take a look at THIS!

By the way, my name is Michael Köttner.

I’ve conducted live and online biogas trainings and consulting session for 20+ years.

And as one of Germany’s biogas pioneers, I’ve seen (almost) everything when it comes to biogas.

(This is me, teaching a small group of 18 biogas professionals during one of our live trainings.)

The way I see it, North America has tremendous potential for biogas.

To curb carbon emissions and ensure a stable and secure energy supply, various governing bodies across the world are investing heavily in the production of renewable energy sources.

And according to the American Biogas Council

The potential for growth of the U.S. biogas industry is huge.

As of April 2018, they have identified 14,958 new sites that are ripe for development today.

And based on recent industry assessment conducted with the USDA, EPA and DOE as part of the Federal Biogas Opportunities Roadmap, these new biogas systems could produce 103 trillion kilowatts an hour per year and reduce emissions equivalent to removing up to 117 million passenger vehicles from the road.

These are impressive numbers.

And for the longest time, we were looking for ways to help North America, especially the USA, realize their full potential.

Yes, live, in-person trainings work really well for that.

But having to cross the pond, investing thousands of dollars, precious time, and suffering through a couple of days of a rough jet-lag are a giant barrier.

Thanks to our  media and cooperation partners:

Plus: you can’t know if the information you’re getting is even applicable for you, coming from outside of Europe.

Do these Europeans even know how things are over here?” might run through your mind.

And this idea is exactly what inspired us to dig deeper and look for solutions.

And by partnering up with a couple of “heavy-hitting” individuals and organisations of the American Biogas Industry…

We think we’ve found the perfect solution:

That means we’ve found a way to take the experience and knowledge of the advanced biogas industry in Europe… and put it into the North American context.

That means we’re combining the flexibility and convenience of online training with the interactive character of our live trainings in a practical and affordable way.

So Here’s the Deal:

A 5-day online biogas training, lasting between 3-4 hours each day…

That means you won’t have to invest a full week into it, but only your morning / midday (depending on your time zone) and can still get to your other projects.

We know that only follow-up questions and further discussions can establish a deep understanding of a specific subject – which is why it was very important to us to include that aspect into this online event.

You can expect ample time for questions and discussions in between presentations and at the end of each day.

Here’s a quick preview of which topics you can expect during North America’s 1st Online Biogas Training:

June 22nd – Practical Plant Engineering:

  • Overview over the  biogas industry – worldwide and in North America
  • Introduction into plant technology
  • Substrate Selection, Pretreatment and Pre-Storage

June 23rd – Practical Digester Biology

  • Process control and process optimization
  • Measurement and data recording for optimization, stabilization and enhancement of the biogas process

June 24th – Practical Plant Operation

  • Safety features of biogas plants and equipment
  • Day to day maintenance

June 25th – What’s Working Now in North America

  • Presentation of successful case studies
  • Reference biogas projects in the US and Canada

June 26th – Q&A Session

And here’s how it works:

This training will take place June 22nd to 26th. And during these 5 days, it will run from 8 AM until about 11:30 AM Pacific Standard Time (PST).

Why “about 11:30 AM PST“?

Well, it’s always hard to predict how long an event will actually take. Some groups have lots of questions (which is great), some prefer sitting back and take everything in, without having many specific questions.

If you live in a different time zone to PST, please check which local time this is for you.

For example, if you live in Atlanta, simply type “9 AM PST in Atlanta” into Google.

This will display the start time in your local time zone.

Just so you can be confident that you’ll understand everything, the training language is English, start to finish.

And to participate, all you need is a stable internet connection and a device to connect, such as your mobile phone, your computer, or your telephone.

You can download the preliminary program for all 5 days HERE.

Here’s What You Get:

  • All presentations as a download (pdf-file)
  • A video recording of each day’s sessions. That means if the time zone isn’t perfect for you, you can still catch up with these recordings.
  • Your personalized certificate of participation
  • Q&A session with IBBK’s biogas experts

To attend this online training you don’t need a Zoom account. Just follow the instructions that you’ll receive via email after you’ve registered and you’ll be good to go.

Live Training On Zoom

To be clear with you: this is a live, interactive video training.

You could call it a webinar, but this training is much more interactive.

Your voice matters – which is why you can join the conversation with your comments and questions directly after a presentation (shorter question) or during the Q&A day on day 5 (longer questions).

Once each training session is finished, we’ll send you a link with the recording of the complete training. This way, you can watch it back however often you want.

You’ll also get access to all presentations that were held during this online training as a downloadable file (pdf).

Just recently, we held a similar, but more intensive training for 14 biogas professionals (and would-be professionals) that lasted 5 full days.

Here’s what they told us:

“Thank You”

Thank you – Training and information was brilliant.

With Regards, Ricardo

– Ricardo, UK

“Best Online Training I’ve been to”

Thanks a lot! You guys are amazing. The organizing, the execution was all perfect.

Without a doubt the best online training I’ve done. All the best and hope to meet you in March next year.

– Owino, Kenya

For this biogas training, we’ll bring a wide variety of different speakers that present the different subjects during the training.

Normally, if you attend one of our live trainings, it’ll cost you between $2,000 and $4,000 total – including flight, travel and accommodation.

And for those that invest that money and time, it’s a sometimes once-in-a-lifetime experience.

But: if you’re one of the those that have trouble finding the time and funds to invest in it…

This online training is much more time-efficient and affordable for you.

And to make sure all your specific questions are addressed, you’ll have the opportunity to do that during the Q&A day on June 19th.

Now, I know we offer a general biogas online training already which is pre-recorded and available on demand.

But this is better suited for beginners and a more general training. And I don’t cover all intricacies and details that me and my colleagues cover during this live online training.

Each day, we’ll dive deep into a different subject and focus on it for between 3 and 4 hours.

Plus: you get to ask questions live, either during the breaks or the Q&A-day on day 5 (June 26th)!

To attend the online training, you don’t need a webcam (or show your face) if you don’t want to.

All you need is a stable internet connection and either a smartphone, a PC or a phone to dial in.

And once you sign up, you’ll get all relevant technical details sent to you via email, showing you how to connect in easy to understand, step-by-step instruction.

To make sure that the flow is interesting and interactive at all times, we’ll break up the sessions into smaller segments with multiple breaks in between – so you can grab a drink and stretch your legs 🙂

This online training is inspired by our flagship, 7-day program that we conduct bi-annually, together with our partner, the University of Hohenheim.

And you can now attend it from the comfort of your own home (or office)…

Without the expenses and the hassle that’s involved in traveling to a foreign place.
